BROWN EDGE PLAYGROUP Completes Step 3 towards becoming a Sun Safe Nursery - Teaching Resources & Activities

Congratulations to BROWN EDGE PLAYGROUP for reading George the Sun Safe Superstar to all their children and introducing everyone to the ‘Slip, Slap, Slop song’.BROWN EDGE PLAYGROUP have also pledged to continue to regularly use the resources provided to reinforce the sun safe message to their children.

Congratulations to BROWN EDGE PLAYGROUP for issuing Sun Safety Fact Sheets to all their pupils. BROWN EDGE PLAYGROUP has also pledged to keep sun hats and sunscreen available for all their children and to act as role models with regard to sun safety:


“the sun safety fact sheet has been given out to all parents throughout the week, and all forms will be kept on record in the health and safety risk assessment folder to ensure the safety and well-being of all children during their time at playgroup. new parents will be given these forms when their child starts the playgroups as part of their induction pack”

“as the playgroup is a shared building we do not have the provision of a permanent shaded area, however the playgroup has a large selection of gazebos of differnet heights and widths which the staff use to place around the outdoor area, to ensure that the children are shaded and protected from the sun at the various activities that are on offer. ”

“Within the garden area we have a wooden gazebo for shade and a few trees. We also us UV tents for the small children and have a moveable gazebo for summer periods. We to do allow the children out in the strongest sun periods and outside play on hot days is kept to a short time period. ”
