Saplings Pre School Completes Step 3 towards becoming a Sun Safe Nursery - Teaching Resources & Activities

Congratulations to Saplings Pre School for reading George the Sun Safe Superstar to all their children and introducing everyone to the ‘Slip, Slap, Slop song’.Saplings Pre School have also pledged to continue to regularly use the resources provided to reinforce the sun safe message to their children.


“Adults and children alike enjoyed the sun safe song and we found it catchy and easy to learn. The story however, was a little complex for our youngest children and we have adapted it slightly to get the message across”

“At our setting, sunscreen is applied to each child before they go in the garden and regardless of whether parents have applied any. We will now sing the Sunsafe song with them as we apply the sunscreen”

Congratulations to Saplings Pre School for pledging to explore options regarding providing shaded areas for children during breaks outside.

“While we have a shaded area in the garden, we are negotiating with our landlords to install a canopy to shade the sunniest area of the garden, in the interim we use a gazebo to provide shade”

Dolly Mixtures Pre-school Completes Step 3 towards becoming a Sun Safe Nursery - Teaching Resources & Activities

Abbotskerswell Pre School Completes Step 1 towards becoming a Sun Safe Nursery - Sun Hats, Sunscreen & Role Models

Congratulations to Abbotskerswell Pre School for issuing Sun Safety Fact Sheets to all their pupils. Abbotskerswell Pre School has also pledged to keep sun hats and sunscreen available for all their children and to act as role models with regard to sun safety:

Langafel Church Of England Primary School Completes Step 2 towards becoming a Sun Safe School - Shade

“In Foundation Stage we have recently had out outdoor staged area roofed and sides built to provide more space. There is also another area outside which provides shade. We use natural shade ie trees and have moved benches to take advatage of the shade.”

Lord Blyton Primary School Completes Step 1 towards becoming a Sun Safe School - Sun Hats, Sunscreen & Role Models

Congratulations to Lord Blyton Primary School for issuing letters and Sun Safety leaflets to the parents / guardians of all of their children. Lord Blyton Primary School have also pledged to make sure that all children have access to Sun Hats & Sunscreen and that all teachers at the school will be good role models with regard to sun safety.

“letters and leaflets have been sent to all children in our school and a large percentage have sent in appropriate hats and sun screen to school. We have a supply of factor 50 cream for those who have none and spare hats as per the guidelines and we will follow the guidelines accordingly”
