Nightingales Completes Step 1 towards becoming a Sun Safe Nursery - Sun Hats, Sunscreen & Role Models

Congratulations to Nightingales for issuing Sun Safety Fact Sheets to all their pupils. Nightingales has also pledged to keep sun hats and sunscreen available for all their children and to act as role models with regard to sun safety:

“Letters are now included in our parent packs, have been sent to existing parents/carers and displayed on notice boards”

“We have spare hats for every child and sunscreen which parents already sign consents to administer. We also have a list of children who are supplied with their own sunscreen. We confirm with parents every day when they sign in that sunscreen has been applied or not.”

10th Anniversary and Ambassador Launch

Skcin Celebrates 10 years of awareness with Ambassador Launch Event

Skcin celebrated our 10th Anniversary on the 1tth and 12th of March with the launch of our Regional Ambassador Network. The 2 day workshop event, held at Nottingham’s Park Plaza welcomed professionals from all over the UK to meet the Skcin team, learn more about our work, our objectives and how we can unite to raise awareness, prevent skin cancer, promote early detection and save lives.

Marie Tudor, Business Development Manager Commented; “The event was a huge success, it’s all about uniting people and passion so that we can generate a greater impact nationally. It was fabulous to meet such wonderful people and see doctors, nurses, patients and those who have lost loved ones to melanoma, unite with one common belief and ultimate goal - to help prevent skin cancer through education. We are truly grateful to all who attended for taking time out of their busy lives to show their support for Skcin - this gives us great confidence in the future of the charity.

With more workshops planned in 2017 for our growing network, founder of Skcin Richard Clifford commented; “ After an amazing 10 years of raising awareness and developing comprehensive educational resources, I am delighted to witness Skcin embark on it’s second decade with the support of so many passionate and dedicated individuals”.

Congratulations to Tiny Toez @ Nutwood who have just renewed their Sun Safe Schools Accreditation.

Skcin are pleased to announce that Tiny Toez @ Nutwood in West Midlands have renewed their Sun Safe Schools Accreditation. The accreditation has been awarded to the school as they have completed the necessary steps to ensure their pupils and employees are educated on the importance of sun safety and that a suitable sun safe environment and policy is put in place and reviewed annually.

Skcin’s Sun Safe Schools, Sun Safe Nurseries and Sun Safe Workplaces national accreditation schemes are dedicated to educating at risk groups and future generations on the importance of sun safety to prevent skin cancer and promote early detection of the disease.
