Skcin are pleased to announce that Oakfield High School and College, in Lancs have completed Step 3 towards renewing their Sun Safe Accreditation by conducting a whole school assembly to introduce the scheme and the importance of Sun Safety to the children.
“Hi, our whole school assembly has been delivered this morning. The learners demonstrated excellent knowledge, covering all aspects of how to stay safe in the sun. We had a short quiz included which was based on true/false facts. The learners understand why it is important to stay safe in the sun and how to look after themselves. They had to do a stem project for activity week this year, where they had to create a recycled bug house. They created their own bug from pipe cleaners and uv beads, and they had to ensure that their bug houses were effective. If the uv beads changed colour, they had to re-evaluate. We have a trophy which has been given to the winning form, and badges which have also been given out to the winning form, and excellence awards to 2nd and 3rd place. Every year has been extremely beneficial, and the message is frequently shared with all of our learners, parents, carers and community. Regards, joanne taylor, sun safe coordinator.
