Skcin are pleased to announce that Heanor Langley Infant School in Derbyshire have renewed their Sun Safe Schools Accreditation by ensuring their pupils are educated on the importance of sun safety and that a suitable sun safe environment and policy is put in place and reviewed annually.
“Children have responded very well- they automatically get their hats and apply suncream before going outside. On our trip to the zoo yesterday all children brought a hat and had suncream applied before they left home and many brought it with them to apply again at lunch time with all others using school's cream. Not many parents have sent the form back as yet, but we have had more bucket and legionnaire hats this year (last year we had more baseball caps) so they have responded to this change in policy well. The school's uniform supplier has already started providing legionnaire hats with the school logo and parents are buying these. It has also raised awareness for staff to look after their own safety in the sun, especially dinner staff who are outdoors in the hottest part of the day- again we are seeing more staff in hats and cream.
